Flyers announce 2024-25 regular season schedule

© Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday, the NHL released the full schedule for the 2024-25 season, also known as the Matvei Michkov rookie season.

In natural Flyers fashion, it’s not surprising that the boys begin the season on the road for four games, about as far as possible from Philadelphia. Opening in Vancouver at 10 PM ET on October 11th, the Flyers will then head to Calgary and Edmonton for 11PM ET starts, before finishing their trip in Seattle on October 17th. Of course, the first four games of Matvei Michkov will be as late in the night as possible for Flyers fans.

The home opener will be October 19th, also against the Elias Petterson-led Canucks. That’ll be sure to be a fun one, with a more amped Wells Fargo Center crowd than there’s been in a long time.

Other schedule highlights include the much anticipated Ducks-Flyers matchup on January 11th, where Cutter Gauthier will visit the place he spurned in January. That’ll be quite the scene, especially with Michkov now in Philadelphia.

Macklin Celebrini, Matvei Michkov’s stiffest Calder competition, will make a visit to town on November 11th when the Sharks come to Philadelphia. The Flyers make a return visit to San Jose on the infamous Disney On Ice trip, which is somehow longer this year than normal. They begin it in Pittsburgh on December 23rd, visit the three California teams before the New Year, and round it out in Vegas and Toronto in early January.

There’s also the first ever Four Nations break in February, ranging from the 8th through the 22nd. So, from February 6th through March 15th, the Flyers will only be on the road for two games, in Pittsburgh on February 27th and in Winnipeg on March 1st.

So, the Flyers have some really long homestands this year, including a seven game homestand from March 4-15. If the Flyers are hanging around the playoff picture by the time March comes around, it could be a real fun time to attend a game or two in South Philadelphia. There’s also a five game homestand right around Thanksgiving, beginning in Buffalo on November 16th and ending with a visit from Vegas on November 25th. In addition, the Flyers will still play the Black Friday game, as is tradition, against the Rangers on November 29th.

The Flyers will play in 13 back to back situations as well, after playing in 12 such games last season. Here’s to hoping they don’t completely burn out and run out of gas like last year, honestly.
